Antler Run is a weekly rental on the Schoodic peninsula of Maine. Nestled in the quiet of the evergreens just beyond Prospect Harbor, it lies beyond the lighthouse and near the end of a private road. Antler Run is away from it all and yet near all that is great about the Schoodic peninsula: the rocky coast, birds and wildlife, lobster pounds, organic farms, artists’ galleries, lighthouses, and of course, Acadia National Park.
Built in 1971, Antler Run was completely refurbished in 2012. The cabin now has two bedrooms and two baths, a kitchen open to the living area, a large deck, and three acres to enjoy.
The upstairs bedroom, with a queen bed, extends the length of the cabin and includes a bath with corner shower. Sliding doors on the east end open onto a private balcony and the scent of fir and spruce trees; windows at the other end of the room look out over moss covered grounds.
The downstairs bedroom has a trundle bed that sleeps two adults comfortably. The adjoining downstairs bath has a tub-shower combination.
Also downstairs is a living area open to the kitchen, shelves of books, and puzzles and games tucked in a cabinet. The kitchen is fully equipped, so guests can eat in, prepare a picnic and head to the shore, or enjoy the area restaurants that serve the farm-fresh vegetables, lobster, and fresh catch so abundant in the area. A deck on the front of the cabin extends the living area to the outdoors, with a table and chairs for al fresco dining and a wicker sofa for lounging.
Find a cozy spot to read or relax inside, on the deck, under the trees, on a garden bench, or on the shore. Listen to the birds, watch for wildlife (we’ve seen deer, foxes, rabbits, and more), and enjoy the solitude of nature. Antler Run is a great place to leave the world behind.
